Preface:
In most cases, success follows effort. We expect Lawrence hockey players  to be on time for all games and practices, but understand that their lives  are full of other obligations and responsibilities (such as school work,  family obligations and sometimes other varsity sports). Attendance is  recorded at each practice and game.  All lates and absences must be approved  IN ADVANCE. In order to keep parents advised and to be consistent with all  players we have a written Attendance Policy.
 
1. All excused absents and excused lates* must be phoned in to Mr. Fersch at 714-1520.  If he does not answer, leave a voice mail message indicating why you will not be there or be late.
2. Any player who complies a total of 5 unexcused lates and/or absents will be suspended for 1 game.
3. If a player is suspended for a game for attendance reasons, subsequent suspensions for attendance will be for 2 games and be effective when a player complies a total of 3 additional unexcused lates and/or absences.
4. If it is later determined that an excuse is invalid, the player will immediately be suspended for 1 or 2 games as appropriate.
5. The game or games a player will sit out will be determined by the Head Coach to avoid overall roster or positional shortages.

* “Late” means not being ready to take the ice when it is ready or the scheduled start of practice or a game (whichever is later).  Equipment problems which should have been foreseen (such as sharpening skates, skate laces or forgotten equipment) are not acceptable excuses.
